The purpose of this policy is to ensure all employees maintain a standard of conduct when using social media. This policy is designed to protect the reputation and credibility of Therapy House and those associated with the business.

Definitions

Social Media refers broadly to any online media which allows for user participation, interaction or publishing. Commonly used social media tools include but are not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, weblogs, Flickr, forums, discussion boards and wikis.

Policy

Management must approve any employee who will use social media as part of their role to promote Therapy House.

Procedure

Professional Use

Employees and contractors may be asked to curate and publish social media content for Therapy House as well as interact with the public by responding to comments and questions.

Employees should:

  • Disclose that they are a Therapy House employee
  • Disclose only publicly available information
  • Be protective of confidential information
  • Be respectful towards individuals they interact with and individual opinions
  • Adhere to copyright, privacy, libel, financial disclosure and other applicable laws
  • Request permission from clients, customers and others associated with our business prior to making reference to them or posting content such as photos that picture them

Personal Use

Employees may use social media in their personal lives. Employees should note that there is the potential for damage via the personal use of social media where a person can be identified as a Therapy House employee.

If referring to Therapy House when using social media in a personal capacity, it is essential that readers of posts do not construe personal comments as being representative of the company.

Employees should:

  • Identify themselves as employees of the company
  • Not imply that they are speaking on behalf of the company
  • Not use the identity of another employee
  • Be mindful of the company’s reputation
  • Disclose only publicly available information
  • Not include any company logos in any posts

Breach of Policy

Failure to comply with this policy could constitute a breach of employment conditions. This may result in disciplinary action being taken, in the form of either a verbal or written warning. In serious cases it may result in the termination of employment.
